Excellent post! I live in a state that has been in the national news lately because the state board of education (the head fool in charge) is now requiring all public schools to post the 10 commandments in each classroom and teach the Bible in all subjects.......... including math. However, they too, sent leftover pandemic money back to the Governor's office instead of extending the free school breakfast/lunches and all after school programs. This is the "Christianity" I found confounding as a 9 year old and, thankfully, what the young people are realizing today. I suspect a turn in society's ideas of what is "wasted taxpayer money" is beginning and I'm so glad I'm still alive to see it happen!!

Yes! Wow, glad to see that your state is rolling with this momentum. Feeding kids should be a bipartisan no-brainer. We require them to BE at school, so therefore they should be fed. They don’t get to clock out for lunch. They can’t leave campus. They HAVE to be there. That alone is reason enough!

great point! Why shouldnt we feed them? That said, after we get them to fund it, we need to get them to actually make lunch better.... but one thing at a time. LOL

Hahaha…yeah, I wasn’t gonna bring down the mood with that very real thought but you’re right. 😂

and of course the people who don't want to have free school lunches for all also tend to want to ban abortion and are the ones writing the posts about people shouldn't have kids if they can't afford to feed them. But logic has never been their strong suit.

This is an amazing point. They weirdly care about you having kids and making sure you birth that baby, but they want no part in the supporting the family around that child. You would think the family values team would care about all families not just the ones they like best.

Long ago, I went to a public meeting about raising taxes for education costs. I don't have children. Some old guy gets up, railing about paying more taxes for schools, he never had kids, his taxes should be lowered and on and on. I could not take it. I stood after him, asking, "Do you want educated police, EMTs, nurses, clerks, helping you? Do you want someone who can count out the change, write your order, properly care for you in your medical emergency? Who do you want caring for you if you end up in a nursing home?" His mouth dropped. People do not think, don't even consider sometimes for selfish reasons. We need more and better education, with well fed students who can then focus, so that we stop devolving into fools. And I own using that word, fools.
